Skill Givers is an employer supported volunteering project working with organisations across Manchester and Salford. The project links businesses with local voluntary and community groups, charities and social enterprises, who support their community to get active.
The Skill Givers project enables employees of businesses involved, to donate their valuable skills and experience through short-term volunteering opportunities, helping to build the capacity and sustainability of these local groups. By getting involved, volunteers will also have the opportunity to improve their own wellbeing, along with developing their skills and confidence.
Skill Givers is funded by Sport England’s Opportunity Fund, which aims to encourage people to volunteer to help tackle challenges their communities face. The project will specifically prioritise the 8 most deprived areas of Manchester and East Salford.
The project is delivered in partnership with Macc
(active in Manchester since 1981) and Salford CVS
(active in Salford since 1973). Both organisations bring expertise in managing volunteer centres and providing capacity building support to VCSE groups in the two cities.
